Book 1 in the Only After Dark Series

Katarina Renót has finally taken that much deserved vacation and brought her best gal pal, Nina, along for the ride.  Nina can be described as a bit of a romantic and a believer in all things that go bump in the night. Kat, however, has never been one to believe in love at first sight or the supernatural. For her they’ve always been fairy tales designed to frighten little children.  She and Nina find themselves at a Dublin night club, where the scenery is nothing short of spectacular.   Could love at first sight actually exist?

Joseph Markus is the lead singer of his band, Slang, and the owner of ‘Graphica’, a local night club.  He also happens to be a wealthy vampire, and a connoisseur of beautiful women. Attracting women and taking what he wants has never been a problem for him, until now…

Kat is weary of Joe, he has the ability to draw forth feelings from the depths of her soul.  She yearns for things completely foreign to her psyche.  How is it possible to have such strong feelings, for a person she just met?  Joe has never had a woman effect him in the manner Kat has.  She consumes his thoughts and desires.  He doesn’t understand how it is plausible. She should be under his thrall, yet it is he who is under her spell.

Revenge….
While Kat and Joe are trying to come to grips with their every growing attraction, enemies lurk near.  Revenge comes in the form of Slade, an obsessed vampire, that will stop at nothing.  Slade will have his revenge, he will make sure that every thing Joe cares for is destroyed right before his eyes.  Then and only then will he kill him.

I gave this book 3.5 out of 5

3.5 stars

Sexy!  Titillating! Seductive! LOVE BLEEDS explodes onto the paranormal scene with alluring and exhilarating characters!  Ms. Maggie James brings in a fresh and unique take on vampires.  Her writing style allows you hear all sides of the story, and then some.  Joe and Kat's passion has the ability to ignite flames. This book is an exciting sample of what Maggie James will bring to the table in future books.  Ms. James left me with the desire to hang out with Kat and Nina, and have a beer. I highly recommend this book if your looking for a paranormal romance.

Review: River Marked by Patricia Briggs

Book 6 in the Mercy Thompson series

imagesCAXSZZ5X

Mercy Thompson is beyond unique, she is a coyote shifter who was raised by werewolves. She is a VW mechanic that has had trouble find her on more than one occasion. Mercy  has always felt alone, like an outsider, especially since she has never met another like her.  She has always yearned to know more about her father, a coyote shifter.  Mercy’s world is finally complete with her mate and now, her new husband, Adam Hauptman.

Mercy and Adam are on their honeymoon, lush camping grounds along the Columbia Gorge, and they have it all to themselves.  What could possibly go wrong on their honeymoon?

I’ll give you 5 clues.
1- The fae thought it would be a good idea for Mercy and Adam to camp along the gorge.
2.  Adam has a strange feeling of impending danger, that he can’t seem to shake.
3.  Mercy has seen an Indian ghost dance for her.
4.  While swimming in the river, Mercy thinks she sees something in the water.
5.  Mercy finally meets her father’s people, shifters.

In the deep waters of the Columbia River lingers evil.  Evil lies at the bottom of the river, waiting for victims.   It is more than clear to Mercy that she and Adam will have to do everything in their powers to destroy the creature.

I gave this book a 4 out of 5

Sensational! Thrilling!  Mercy Thompson is back! I have been following this series since the beginning, and let me tell you, I never know what’s in store for me.  River Marked is addictive from the start, twist and turns and magic keep you glued to the pages. Mercy and Adam’s love story leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy.  Ms. Patricia Briggs does not disappoint, Mercy is as endearing as ever and everyone wishes they could be like her. Mercy grokked the river and was able to dangle us on her every action and word.  Where else would you be able to find a  a kick-ass heroine, a “knock out” of a werewolf, shifters and an evil draconic monster in a river?

Favorite Quote:    For a smile like that I’d…do anything.--Mercy

Mine.  He was mine, and not even death would take him from me—not if I could help it.---Mercy

4710921228_bf32d46f6d_o This week’s question is from Gone With The Words

gwtw_header_001

Q. How did you come up with your blog name?

My answer:  They idea of starting a blog took on a life of it’s own when my best friend and I started to joke around about how there should be a place for people with book addictions.  The name just came to me and stuck.  It’s been one of the best ideas I ever had.  Everyday I meet some of the most talented and intelligent people in the blogosphere.  More importantly, these same bloggers are becoming my new friends.

This week's question comes from Somer who blogs at A Bird's Eye

Question:   "Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?"

My Answer:  I give each book my undivided attention.  One at time is the method to my madness.

Book 6 in the Elite Ops Series

51zDgE9GIQL__SL160_

The Elite Ops is a stealthy underground agency whose one goal is to combat terror.  Those of the Elite Ops are known to a few and only by their codenames.  The soldiers of the Ops have no past, it has been buried along with their old lives.  Once they sign on to the Elite Ops they are born again with new names and new lives, but the past has a way of coming back…

Captain Jordan Malone is the head of this elite group of soldiers.  He is the keeper of their secrets.  Over the years his men and their safety have been his only priority.  He has watched on the sidelines as each one of his team members found true love.   A love he never believed in, for Jordan it is only an illusion. All that changed, shattered to pieces the day Tehya walks into his life.

Tehya Talamosi, has been running for her life ever since she was five.  She finally found a semblance of normalcy as a operative for the Elite Ops, but that is all about to change.  Elite Ops is disassembling, their contracts are up and new operatives will be put in play.  She will now have to live on her own and her heart will be torn to pieces as she walks away from the one man she has ever loved.

They have been searching for Tehya for years and news of her resurfacing has reached the ears of those who want her.  She was able to escape once, yet she no longer has the option to hide.  Tey will have to face the dangers and horrors she so desperately tried to evade.  She has no choice, those she loves are in danger.

Jordan never realized how much he needed Tey, until the day she left.  He will protect Tey and eliminate any threat to her.  She has suffered most of her life, and he will see her set free, there can be no other viable option.  His need to keep her from harm and out of the hands of killers, is his new mission.
As danger surrounds Tey, Jordan can no longer deny his feelings for her.  What he feels for Tey is unlike anything he has ever felt for another woman.  Together Jordan and Tey will fight to save those they care
about.

I give this book 3.5 out of 5

Smokin! Orgasmic! Lora Leigh brings another terrific book to the table with LIVE WIRE.  I’m a huge fan of the author and the series.  Jordan’s story has been anticipated for some time, bringing a wonderful saga to an end. Lora Leigh draws an erotic picture, written to tantalize the senses in this very steamy book.  If true to form, Lora will have another incredible series in the works.

WARNING: This book has the potential to leave you hot and bothered.

This week the feature comes from:

I'm Ashley and I run Bookaholic Does Blogging! I started Bookaholic Does Blogging in October 2010 when I discovered my personal blog was becoming a sea of book posts. I'm pretty open in my taste for books and there isn't much I won't read. I most enjoy paranormal books, though I'll pick up a chick lit just as easily. Some other genres I love include historical fiction, mystery, romance, and pretty much anything that is fiction. It's a rare occasion when I read a non-fiction novel.

As far as Ashley the girl, I am currently a junior in college studying Accounting, Finance, and Economics (it's a lot -- I know)! I am currently engaged and planning a Fall 2012 wedding. I also have two awesome cats that I love. =) In addition to reading, I enjoy shopping and crafty things as well. =)

This week's question from Ashley is..

Just like Ashley said (love it) "Ashley the girl..." who are You the Boy/Girl, instead of You the Blogger?

My Answer: I am a reading bum that lives on an island.  I'm an addict to the art of reading.  Reading has been my best friend since I was a wee bairn.   I have been married to the most sexy, intelligent man on the planet for 20 years.  I am a mother to 4 gorgeous children, 2 boys and 2 girls .  I'm a certified beach bum with a degree in sun block application.  I have three Labs with additudes that happen to be my morning alarm system. I've been blogging for a almost a year and have met the most incredible people.

This week's question comes from Ellie who blogs at Musings of a Bookshop Girl:

"If I gave you £50 (or $80) and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till?"

Answer:
1.  The Iron Duke - Meljean Brook
2.  The Devil Wears Plaid - Teresa Medeiros
3.  Deadly Vows- Brenda Joyce
4.  Green Eyed Demon - Jaye Wells
5.  (Anything that catches my eye, there 's always a surprise when you scope the bookshelves)

This week's question comes from Mia who blogs at Girl About Books:

"Who's your all-time favorite book villain?"

My Answer:  I read so much that villains are the flavor of the week.  Today I can say that my fave villain is Otto Sanchez, Mayor of Midcity. We finally see his true colors in Carolyn Crane’s second book in her Disillusionist Trilogy, Double Cross.  I was left speechless with his moral depravity at the end of the book.  If you have not read the first two books, find them and proceed. Mind Games was the first book in the trilogy.
