Early Review: Rogues Rush In by Tessa Dare and Christi Caldwell

Posted on May 17, 2018 with No comments

May 17, 2018

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling authors Tessa Dare and Christi Caldwell come together in this smart, sexy, not-to-be-missed Regency Duet!

Two scandalous brides...
Two rogues who won’t be denied...

His Bride for the Taking by New York Times Bestselling author Tessa Dare

It’s the first rule of friendship among gentlemen: Don’t even think about touching your best friend’s sister. But Sebastian, Lord Byrne, has never been one for rules. He’s thought about touching Mary Clayton—a lot—and struggled to resist temptation. But when Mary’s bridegroom leaves her waiting the altar, only Sebastian can save her from ruin. By marrying her himself.

In eleven years, he’s never laid a finger on his best friend’s sister. Now he’s going to take her with both hands. To have, to hold...and to love.

His Duchess for a Day

by USA Today Bestseller Christi Caldwell

It was never meant to be…
That’s what Elizabeth Terry has told herself while trying to forget the man she married--her once best friend. Passing herself off as a widow, Elizabeth has since built a life for herself as an instructor at a finishing school, far away from that greatest of mistakes. But the past has a way of finding you, and now that her husband has found her, Elizabeth must face the man she’s tried to forget.

It was time to right a wrong…
Crispin Ferguson, the Duke of Huntington, has spent the past years living with regret. The young woman he married left without a by-your-leave, and his hasty elopement had devastating repercussions. Despite everything, Crispin never stopped thinking about Elizabeth. Now that he’s found her, he has one request—be his duchess, publicly, just for a day.

Can spending time together as husband and wife rekindle the bond they once shared? Or will a shocking discovery tear them apart...this time, forever?

3.5  STARS

His Bride For The Taking - Tessa Dare -3.5 stars

His Bride for the Taking by Tessa Dare was a short and humorous read.   I enjoyed Sebastian and Mary as a couple. I'm glad that Dare was able to make this short historical novella work, many times short historical stories never truly bring the stories to life.

His Duchess For A Day - Christi Caldwell- 3 stars

His Duchess for a Day by Christi began strong.  I found the characters likable and then something happened.  I'm not sure what.  It lost a bit of wind and dragged the story down a bit.  Overall it was okay.

Review: Claiming His Hidden Heir by Carol Marinelli

Posted on May 15, 2018 with 1 comment

“Did you forget to tell me about my baby?”

He won’t be denied his heir!

Buttoned-up PA Cecelia Andrews’s resignation released her secret raw desire for her demanding playboy boss, Luka Kargas. One year after his callous dismissal, Cecelia’s hiding an even greater secret—their daughter! She’ll never let coldhearted Luka make her daughter feel unwanted. But when Luka uncovers her deceit, there’s no escaping the consequences of her passionate surrender…

Claiming His Hidden Heir was not what I had hoped for. Luka was not my kind of hero.  He fell short of redeeming qualities and was not a good match for Cecelia.  I connected with Cecelia, but felt the story did not do her character justice.  I wish there had been a better storyline that supported her journey and a hero to help her through her ordeal. I hope the next romance delivers more of what we have come to love from Marienelli.

Early Review: Demon Unbound by Jenn Stark

May 14, 2018

None of us is without Sin...

After serving untold millennia as the leader of a demon special ops team with a brutal reputation for efficiency, Warrick of the Syx has seen it all, done it all, killed it all. Penance for his own damnation? Sure. But with the world running black with blood and magic, his skills are definitely in high demand.

This time, though...there's a catch. And her name is Maria Santos. Beautiful, badass, and out for blood, Maria's wrestling with her own dark secrets. The kind of secrets that call to Warrick's twisted soul. A call he knows better than to answer.

Unfortunately, the dangerously tempting undercover cop is Warrick's only ticket into the lockdown hellhole where a particularly vicious demon faction is boiling over, ready to unleash a new Armageddon on earth. If he wants to get at them, he's going to have to take Maria with him.

But the second she gets caught in the crossfire between Warrick and the scum of eternity, well...

Hell hath no fury like a Demon Unbound.

Demon Unbound is on the fringes of the shadows, awaiting it's next willing and adventurous victim!  Warrick and Maria captivate you from the very beginning.  The intensity of these two characters are reminiscent a true paranormal romance. A story where our knowledge of the world and those whose existence within lie beyond our normal with an added kick of sexuality. Our knowledge of Warrick and the Syx from the Immortal Vegas series gives a unique base to the story. Characters are edgy and have individual stories.  I can't wait to see where the series takes us and who we will find on the way.  Demon Enforcers is a new favorite!  A must read!

Review: Wilde Fire by Jenn Stark

Posted on May 12, 2018 with No comments

May 12, 2018

It's the end of the world as we know it...

The war on magic is here, and Mistress of the House of Swords Sara Wilde has done everything she can to prepare. The Arcana Council has recalled its most powerful members to hold the line, and the Houses of Magic are frantically strengthening their defenses. Then the first volley hits: a plague of demons freed to ravage the earth. Scrambling, Sara discovers that the war will be fought not on one front, but three--while new threats emerge at a breakneck pace.

All the magic in the world may not be enough to save it.

From an ancient coven in Chicago to the sunbaked streets of Vegas to the frozen ice fields of Antarctica, Sara rallies her closest friends and fiercest enemies to protect the earth from the gods and monsters raining down from the dark side of the veil. To succeed, Sara must confront the truths she's been avoiding her whole life, and take on forces that have kept the Connecteds powerless for far too long. But is she willing to make the ultimate sacrifice?

When it comes to Armageddon, where there's smoke there's always Wilde Fire.

I can't get enough of the Immortal Vegas series!  Sara has grown leaps and bounds before our eyes. Coming into her powers and then navigating the treacherous waters of the world of immortals has not been an easy task.  Her connection to the all powerful Magician has added a heighten level of intensity to the entire series. Wilde Fire turns up the heat between Sara and the Magician.  The story abandons us into a chaotic world of the Connected, the gods, and the monsters that threaten all that Sara loves.  Get ready for a ride in Wilde Fire by Jenn Stark.

Release Day Review: The Good Luck Sister (Wildstone, #1.5) by Jill Shalvis

Posted on May 1, 2018 with No comments

May 1, 2018

This summer, romance blooms again in Wildstone!

After a difficult few years, Tilly Adams is ready for life to start going right. Though she has a case of first day nerves teaching art at the local community college, she knows it isn’t anything a few snuggles from her rescue puppy won’t cure. Until she sees Dylan Scott again, her one time bff and first love sitting in the front row.

Dylan knows he should’ve left well enough alone, but when he sees Tilly living her dream, he can’t help but make contact. Ten years ago, he left Wildstone and everything in it behind, including Tilly. He had his reasons, but now he wants her back in his life, anyway he can get her.

When Tilly agrees to design the logo for Dylan’s new helicopter touring company, it’s business only…until she finds herself falling into his arms once again. Can she possibly open her heart back up to the only man who’s ever broken it? But soon they’re both realizing the truth -- love always deserves a second chance.

Jill Shalvis’ books are such a joy to read and I just knew I was going to love Tilly & Dylan’s story! We were first introduced to these characters in the first book of the series, Lost and Found Sisters. Both were teenagers then. Now it’s 8 years later and Dylan has come back to Wildstone to start a helicopter tour business with his two friends and he’s also hoping to make amends with Tilly, his one true love who he left all those years ago without an explanation.

Tilly always had a dream of becoming a famous artist. Unfortunately, her life plans aren’t turning out quite what she had hoped for, but she’s determined to make the best of it. On her first day of teaching art at the local community college, she never expects to see Dylan sitting in the front row and it doesn’t go over well. All those feelings of love and heartbreak come flooding back. Dylan wants her to design the logo for his new business and if it also means getting to see more of Tilly, then all the better. He just hopes she can forgive him for the hurt he caused her.

There are things Tilly doesn’t know about why Dylan left all those years ago, and if he wants a second chance with Tilly, he’s going to have to open up to her.

The Good Luck Sister is a fun, sweet, heartfelt novella and another winner from Jill Shalvis!
