Posted on Sep 11, 2020 with No comments

They are a dangerous duke, a fierce lord, and an infamous earl—dark, bold, brave men who know exactly what they want. And there is only one woman who can bring them to their knees...

He is first and foremost—at everything. A man who's made his own way in the world through ruthless cunning and sheer force of will. A strong and imposing Scot who can turn on the charm but does not suffer fools. His title: Lord Chief Justice of the High Court. His name: Cassius Gerard Ramsay. His mission: To investigate the goings-on at London's most notorious gaming hell, owned and operated by one of the most intriguing and desirable women he's ever met.

IN THIS GAME OF LOVE, THE RULES DO NOT APPLY

Cecelia Teague was an orphan facing a rather dire future—until a secret benefactor from her mother's scandalous past swept into her life. Sent to prestigious boarding school and later to university, Cecelia believed high society was at her fingertips...Then, from out of nowhere, she became the inheritor of a gambling establishment. Now Cecelia must live two lives: one as a proper lady who finds herself undeniably drawn to Lord Ramsay and the other as a savvy gaming hell owner trying to save her business from the very same man. He has no idea she is both women...and Cecelia would like to keep it that way. But what happens when consuming passion and escalating danger threaten to reveal the truth?

Early Review: To Catch an Earl by Kate Bateman

Posted on Jun 26, 2020 with 1 comment

A case of secret identities finds reunited lovers on opposite sides of the law in this fun, flirty Regency romance.

There's only one case Bow Street agent Alex Harland, Earl of Melton, hasn't cracked: the identity of the mysterious woman who stole a kiss from him before he left for war. He's neither forgotten--nor forgiven--her for leaving him wanting. When he starts investigating the Nightjar, an elusive London jewel thief, he keeps running into the alluring Emmy Danvers, who stirs feelings he hasn't felt in years.

Even though Emmy's loved Alex for years, she can't risk revealing her heart, or her identity as the Nightjar. With Alex on her case, Emmy knows that her secrets are in danger of being discovered. Their cat and mouse game heats up with every interaction, but when Emmy's reputation--and life--is at risk, will Alex realize that some rules are made to be broken for love?

To Catch an Earl is captivating! From the moment Emmy steals that kiss, I knew I was in for a ride! Emmy's daring nature and undaunting need to play with fire had me turning the pages. This is an exciting read! As Alex begins to unravel the lovely Emmy, things take a turn for the worse. Alex and Emmy are the perfect match. The entire story is filled with clever and witty dialogue. To Catch an Earl transported me in time and I loved every minute of it. Bateman delivers an array of bold characters in this great romance. Following along with the Nightjar and her associates, as they planned and executed their heists, was titillating. I can not wait to read the next book in the series!

Review: How To Love A Duke in Ten Days (Devil You Know Book 1) by Kerrigan Byrne

Posted on May 7, 2020 with No comments

These men are dark, bold, and brave. And there is only one woman who can bring them to their knees...

Famed and brilliant, Lady Alexandra Lane has always known how to look out for herself. But nobody would ever expect that she has darkness in her past—one that she pays a blackmailer to keep buried. Now, with her family nearing bankruptcy, Alexandra strikes upon a solution: Get married to one of the empire’s most wealthy eligible bachelors. Even if he does have the reputation of a devil.

LOVE TAKES NO PRISONERS

Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne, is seeking revenge and the first step is securing a bride. Winning a lady’s hand is not so easy, however, for a man known as the Terror of Torcliff. Then, Alexandra enters his life like a bolt of lightning. When she proposes marriage, Piers knows that, like him, trouble haunts her footsteps. But her gentleness, sharp wit, independent nature, and incredible beauty awakens every fierce desire within him. He will do whatever it takes to keep her safe in his arms.

Nurturing haven of passion! How To Love a Duke in Ten Days stole my heart. Piers was an epitome of all the virtues lovers of historical romance seek. His strong but gentle demeanor was reflected throughout the story. Byrne delivers an angsty, moving journey of pain and salvation in the arms of two strong characters. Alexandra and her Red Rogue sisters are charismatic from the very beginning.
The well-developed characters are a tantalizing mix of their pasts, presents, and futures, transporting readers into a historical romance with all the right elements to please. I loved the fast pace of the storytelling. Byrne gets right the heart of the matter without leaving out any of the important details. Although Piers and Alexandra's past have molded them, together they find the strength to overcome their demons and begin a new chapter in their lives. How To Love a Duke in Ten Days will pull at your heartstrings, and for many, connect on a deeper level. Byrne brought to life a very real and sadly all too common occurrence in the lives of women. I'm delighted I chose to read the first book in the series before reading All Scot and Bothered, book two in The Devil You Know series. If you love a great historical romance with bold and at times comical characters, whose stories move you, then How to Love A Duke in Ten Days is for you.
