How well do you know your favorite characters?

As book bloggers we read so much it's almost impossible to remember everything characters say, once we've read the book.  Unless of course, you fall in "deep" love with said characters.  Then it's just a matter of someone mentioning the title of a book and you can't stop talking about the characters.      This seems to be a reoccurring issue with me right before the release of a book in a much beloved series.
You become giddy and excited about your favorite characters and you have the uncanny ability to recall almost all of their little eccentricities, you know what I mean.

I've begun to think that some authors have a secret laboratory where their characters are being held and studied.  My most beloved characters are so unique, the authors have captured them in such a three dimensional way that they become real for this addicted reader. Authors are mad scientist in disguise! I truly believe this.  LOL

Today, I thought it would be fun to give everyone a little quote from one of my favorite characters and see who knows recognizes the character. I may add a little description to help you along.   Whoever knows the name of the character will receive bragging rights!    If enough peeps leave comments I might just make it a meme.

Well, here we go.......This one will be super easy!

Character Description & M.O.

Sex:   Female
Height  5'2"
Weight:   91 lbs approx. guess
Hair Color:  Black
Eye Color:    Golden
Identifying features: Pointy ears
M.O.
This gem is a hunter of vampire, the more the merrier.  She has an odd sense of humor.  Her jokes seem to be inside jokes because she's the only one that understands them.  She sees the future, present, and past. She is an ancient warrior.  She is loyal to her sisters.  When asked a question, her answers are cryptic.  Sex appeal is off the charts!  Many believe her to be insane.

Character Quote:

"Who’s mummy’s wittle echolocator? That’s right—you are!"

Please leave your answer in the comments!
Make sure to write character's name and the author responisble.

Review: First Grave On The Right by Darynda Jones

Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an entity who has been following her all her life…and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

Steamy!  Heart Palpitating! Damn Witty!  First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones is not for the weak of heart.   It should come with a warning label!!!  Difficulty breathing, panting, yearning, and excess laughter are just a few of the side effects you will encounter while reading this book. Jones's quick-witted, shrewd, and heady writing style keeps you in awe.  The ingredients that Jones uses to bring her characters to life are layers upon layers of  what readers want.  Her characters are so memorable, you will be on a first name basis by the time you are done, and making plans for the next tryst.  "I see dead people" is an understatement. The volley of conversation between Charley and the dead are "jenius"!  Yes, I wrote jenius wrong, and just might keep doing it, because Charley inspires me to do so!  Reyes is the poster boy for all things deliciously bad. I couldn't get enough of him.  First Grave on the Right left me on pins and needles and salivating for more.  Everyone has those "go to" books that you can read over and over again, right?   You're gaga about the book and find more surprises each and every time.  All your senses tell you there are secrets you overlooked and they need to be found! First Grave on the Right is a keeper.  First Grave on the Right is now on my Top 10 Books of 2011!  Thank goodness there is more to come!  I highly recommend First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones!  Just ordered book two~ Second Grave on the Left so I can continue adding to the list of side effects.

P.S.  I suddenly have an urge to purchase t-shirts with Charley chapter headings. :-)

~ First Grave On The Right ~
by Darynda Jones
Book 1 in the Charley Davidson Series

Excerpt
I was doing my darnedest to keep my own eyes off the body—dead people I could handle, dead bodies not so much—but a movement in my periphery had me zeroing in on that very thing.

“So, are you getting anything?” Uncle Bob asked—he still thinks I’m psychic—but I was too busy staring at the dead guy in the dead body to answer.

I inched over and nudged the body with my foot. “Dude, what are you still doing in there?”

The dead guy looked at me with wide eyes. “I can’t move my legs.”

I snorted. “You can’t move your arms either, or your feet or your freaking eyelids. You’re dead.”

“Jesus H.,” Garrett said through clenched teeth.
“Look.” I turned to face him head-on. “You play on your side of the sandbox, and I’ll play on mine. Comprende?”

“I’m not dead.”

I turned back. “Hon, you’re as dead as my great-aunt Lillian, and trust me, that woman is now in a perpetual state of decomposition.”

“No, I’m not. I’m not dead. Why isn’t anyone trying to revive me?”
“Um, because you’re dead?”

I heard Garrett mutter something under his breath, then stalk off. Nonbelievers were such drama queens.

Okay, fine, if I’m dead, how am I talking to you? And why are you so sparkly?”

“It’s a long story. Just trust me, mister, you’re dead.”

Just then, Sergeant Dwight walked up, all crisp and formal looking in his APD uniform and military buzz. “Ms. Davidson, did you just kick that dead body?”
“For heaven’s sake, I’m not dead!”

“No.”

Sergeant Dwight tried his hand at a death stare. I tried not to giggle.

“I got this, Sergeant,” Uncle Bob said.

The sarge turned to him, and they eyed each other a full minute before he spoke. “Would you mind not contaminating my crime scene with your relatives?”

“Your crime scene?” Uncle Bob asked. A vein in his temple started pulsing.

I considered popping the rubber band at his wrist, but I still had doubts as to its efficacy. “Hey, Uncle Bob,” I said, patting his arm, “let’s go over here and talk, shall we?”
I turned and left without waiting, hoping Uncle Bob would follow. He did. We strolled past the spotlights to a tree and assumed innocuous conversational positions. I tossed a smile to Sergeant Dwight Yokel that leaned heavily toward smart-ass. I think he growled. Good thing I wasn’t into people-pleasing.

“Well?” Uncle Bob asked as Garrett reluctantly rejoined us.

“I don’t know. He won’t get out of his body.”
“He what?” Garrett raked a hand through his hair. “This is classic.”

I ignored him and watched as Sussman walked over to a third dead person on the scene, a striking woman with blond hair and a fire engine red skirt suit. She screamed femininity and power. I liked her instantly. Sussman shook her hand. Then they both turned to look at the only dead person present lying in a pool of his own blood.

“I think they know each other,” I said.

"Who?” Uncle Bob asked, glancing around as if he could see them.
“You got an ID on this guy?”

“Yeah.” He fished out his notebook, reminding me I needed to dash into Staples. All my little notebooks were filled to maximum capacity. As a result, I kept writing pertinent information on my hand, then accidentally washing it off. “Jason Barber. A lawyer at—”

“Sussman, Ellery, and Barber,” Sussman said in unison with Uncle Bob.

"You’re a lawyer?” I asked him.

“Sure am. And this is my partner, Elizabeth Ellery.”

"Hey, Elizabeth,” I said, reaching out to shake her hand. Garrett pinched the rim of his nose.

“Ms. Davidson, Patrick told me you can see us.”

“Yep.”
“How—?”
“Long story. But first,” I said, heading off the barrage of questions, “let me get this straight: You are all three partners at the same law firm, and you all three died last night?”

“Who else died last night?” Uncle Bob asked, tearing through his notebook.

“We were all three murdered last night,” Sussman corrected. “All nine-millimeter double taps to the head.”

Elizabeth raised her perfectly arched brows at him. “Double taps?”

He smiled sheepishly and tried to kick the dirt at his feet. “I heard the cops talking.”
“I only got two homicides.”

I looked up at Uncle Bob. “You have only two homicides from last night? There were three.”
Garrett went still, probably wondering what I was up to, how I could know any such thing since I couldn’t possibly see dead people, so dead people couldn’t possibly tell me they were dead. It just wasn’t possible.

Uncle Bob studied his notebook. “We got a Patrick Sussman found outside his home in the Mountain Run area, and this guy, a Jason Barber.”

Okay, here with us now is Patrick Sussman … the Third,” I said, tossing Sussman a grin, “and Jason Barber. But he’s in denial right now.” I looked over as the coroner zipped the body bag.
“Help!” Barber yelled, squirming like a worm in a frying pan, “I can’t breathe!”

“Oh, for heaven’s sake,” I whispered loudly. “Would you just get up?”

“And?” Uncle Bob asked.
“Elizabeth Ellery was killed, too,” I said, hating to do it with her standing right there. It just felt awkward.

Garrett was now eyeing me with open hostility. Anger was a common emotion when faced with something impossible to believe. But quite honestly, fuck him.

"Elizabeth Ellery? We don’t have an Elizabeth Ellery.”
Elizabeth was studying Garrett. “This guy seems a little upset.”

I nodded my head. “He doesn’t believe I can see you guys. It’s upsetting him that I’m talking to you.”
“That’s too bad. He’s—” She inclined her head to study his backside. “—nice looking.”

I chuckled, and we did a discreet high five, making Garrett even more uncomfortable. “Do you know where your body is?” I asked her.

Review: Bound by Night by Amanda Ashley

A Vampire's Kiss Is Forever. . .

Once featured in a horror movie, the crumbling Wolfram estate is said to be haunted by ghosts, witches, and worse. But Elena doesn't believe a word of it—until she spends the night and wakes up in the arms of a compelling stranger. . .

Tall, dark, and disturbingly handsome, Drake is the most beautiful man Elena has ever seen. For centuries, he has lived alone, and Elena is the first woman to enter his lair—and survive. And Drake is the first man to touch her heart and soul. By the time she discovers who he really is—and what he craves—it's too late. Blood lust has turned to love, and Elena is deeply under Drake's spell. But forever comes at a price for each of them.

(Book Description)

I gave this book a 2.5

Amanda Ashley is a very good author with a wonderful imagination that has been able to capture me in the past.  Bound by Night was not what I had hoped for.  As I began to read the beginning of the book, I found it hard to believe that Elena would stay living with her uncle in today's day and age.  Even more unbelieveable for me was the fact that she would stay in an old abandoned castle, that just happened to be furnished. There were times in the book that had the feel of a historical. I began to wonder if I was reading a book meant for young adults.  Drake was not a very strong character, he was a bit soft for my taste. I felt he just didn't fit into the vampire roll very smoothly.  As the story was reaching it's finale, I began to feel it a bit more. Although I did not enjoy this book as much as I wanted to, I am very excited about the second book in the series.  Based on the excerpt of book two, I have high hopes for  Bound by Blood and plan on reading it.  Amanda Ashley has many paranormal works that are suberb and should not be passed up.

Review: Dark Predator by Christine Feehan

Book 22

As brutal as the undead he hunted, Zacarias De La Cruz was a master executioner. Now his stark and savage journey has ended. For his brothers, Zacarias had walked to the edge of madness, but with centuries as a killing machine now left to the past and without a hunt to define him, Zacarias wonders, for the first time in his life, who he really is.
The answer awaits him back home, in Peru, in the betrayal of a woman who is readying her trap, in the vengeance of an old enemy, in the inevitable consequences of a bloody family legacy-and in the deliverance of a lifemate he never could have imagined...

Dark Predator is the 22nd book in the series.  Many will remember Zacarias De La Cruz from previous books in the series along side his brothers.  Zacarias' story was much anticipated, we all wanted this dark warrior to find his happiness. Dark Predator does just that!   Zacarias finds his salvation in the lovely Marguarita, who gave her life for him in a previous book.  Sadly, Dark Predator is another example of a series that has become dull and lacking.  The Carpathian series has long been one of my favorites, yet Dark Predator fell short for me.  I am a huge fan of Christine Feehan and her superb writing, but this book just was not one for the record books.  If it's the first time you've read a Carpathian novel, you are bound to love it because of Feehan's wonderful writing talent. I believe one of the reasons it falls short is because Feehan has set the bar so high with other works, and we just want to keep on being surprised.   We're all dying for Skyler and Dimitri's story, it is one of the most anticipated books in the series, there's even Discussion Page on Facebook  for those two (Dimitri and Skyler) .  I've become more passionate about her Jaguar series than about the Carpathian novels.  Although DP just wasn't my cup of tea,  I will continue to follow the series because it is one of my favorites and  I truly would like to know how it all eventually ends.  Take time to read the Drake Sisters series for a truly wonderful escape and the Ghostwalkers series is an action packed world, filled with cutting edge fiction.

Book 1
in
Heroes and Heartbreakers Series

His name is Rafer Callahan. He was a kid from the wrong side of the tracks who fought through life the only way he knew how: with his fists. But Rafer never meant to bring any harm to Cambria Flannigan, the girl—the lover—whose sister he’d been unable to save…

Cami lost her sister in the brutal murders that rocked her hometown so many years ago. Some still believe that Rafe, along with his friends Logan and Crowe, were involved. But how could Rafe—who haunted her girlish dreams, then her adult fantasies—be a killer? That is the question that keeps her up at night.

Now a prosperous ranch owner, Rafe is trying to build a new legacy for himself. It’s finally time to settle the score with Cami—and make her his. But old wounds open up with a series of new murders…and each of the victims has a connection to Rafe, Logan, and Crowe. With suspicion, fear, and loyalty tearing her apart, Cami is once again at risk of losing her heart—or her life.

Heavy! Libidinous! Racy!  Midnight Sins by Lora Leigh is series infused with secrets and hatred.  Midnight Sins is the first book into a new series entitled Heroes and Heartbreakers.  Leigh gives us new alpha males with all the right predatory goodness we have come to love and crave.  Midnight Sins follows the same recipe as Leigh's other work with a few tweaks to ingredients.  I just love all of Lora Leigh's work, her formula for steamy books is spot on. Although this book wasn't a "wow" read, it made me want to know more about these delish cousins. There were a couple of things in the story that just left me saying, "Come On!", mainly the amount of years Cami and Rafer danced around each other.  I found details missing in some scences and it left me a bit lost. It could just be that Leigh wants to keep us guessing.   After finishing the story I wanted to learn more, so I'll just have to wait for book two.

Review: His Darkest Salvation by Juliana Stone

Jaguar Warriors — Book 3

In a world on the brink of chaos, passion and vengeance collide . . .

After six months in hell, Julian Castille has returned to the world a changed man—no longer the calm, powerful CEO, but a shifter fully embraced by the blood of his clan. Julian has one goal: find the key to the portal that stands between the human realm and unprecedented darkness, in order to win back the pieces of his soul. The last thing he needs is a distraction like the beautiful, enigmatic Jaden DaCosta.
Three years ago, a forbidden night of passion left Jaden forever altered: mated to Julian Castille—bound to a man who despises her. But the temptation to trust this darker, more savage—and more captivating—Julian is overwhelming. And as they fight for their immortal souls, their insatiable desire for each other may prove their fatal undoing . . .
(Book Description)

I gave this book a 5

Elysium! Enravishing! Pure Magic! His Darkest Salvation by Juliana Stone is *'vivid Technicolor' paranormal!  Juliana Stone keeps transmogrifying this wonderful series into an addiction.  His Darkest Salvation is by far the juiciest in the Jaguar Warrior series. Julian has become one of my top ten heroes for 2011. His Darkest Salvation will allow you to get your "shifter fix" and then some. The descriptions in this book are amazing, Juliana had me hanging on her every word. Julian and Jaden are an emotional twister that spells perfection.   Stone dives into the spirit of pain and drives it home. Jaden is by far Stone's best creation.  If you haven't read the first two books in the series you will be missing an unbelievable piece of this seductive world,  His Darkest Salvation is one of the most scrumptious layers.

Favorite Quote:  "I'll neveer want anyone else," he said.  "You've ruined me"   - Julian Castille

*   'vivid Technicolor'  ~Juliana Stone uses this phrase in a part of the story and I thought it was off the hook!  I just had to use it in my review.
