Review: First Grave On The Right by Darynda Jones

Sep 27, 2011

Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an entity who has been following her all her life…and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

Steamy!  Heart Palpitating! Damn Witty!  First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones is not for the weak of heart.   It should come with a warning label!!!  Difficulty breathing, panting, yearning, and excess laughter are just a few of the side effects you will encounter while reading this book. Jones's quick-witted, shrewd, and heady writing style keeps you in awe.  The ingredients that Jones uses to bring her characters to life are layers upon layers of  what readers want.  Her characters are so memorable, you will be on a first name basis by the time you are done, and making plans for the next tryst.  "I see dead people" has nothing on this gem. The volley of conversation between Charley and the dead are jenius!  Yes, I wrote jenius wrong, and just might keep doing it, because Charley inspires me to do so!  Reyes is the poster boy for bad, I just could not get enough of him.  First Grave on the Right left me on pins and needles and salivating for more.  Everyone has those books that they can reread over and over again, right?   You just want to gadabout the book and find more surprises, because all your senses tell you there are secrets to be found!  Well, First Grave on the Right is a keeper.  FG is now on my Top 10 Books of 2011!  Thank goodness there is more to come!  I highly recommend First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones!  I have just ordered book 2~ Second Grave on the Left so I can continue adding side effects to my new addiction!

P.S.  I left out just one of the side effects:  a sudden urge to search for T-Shirt logos!
