Early Review: About That Kiss (Heartbreaker Bay #5) by Jill Shalvis

Jan 17, 2018

When love drives you crazy . . .

When sexy Joe Malone never calls after their explosive kiss, Kylie shoves him out of her mind. Until she needs a favor, and it’s a doozy. Something precious to her has been stolen and there’s only one person with unique finder-and-fixer skills that can help—Joe. It means swallowing her pride and somehow trying to avoid the temptation to throttle him—or seduce him.

the best thing to do . . .

No, Joe didn’t call after the kiss. He’s the fun time guy, not the forever guy. And Kylie, after all she’s been through, deserves a good man who will stay. But everything about Kylie makes it damned hard to focus, and though his brain knows what he has to do, his heart isn’t getting the memo.

… is enjoy the ride.

As Kylie and Joe go on the scavenger hunt of their lives, they discover surprising things about each other. Now, the best way for them to get over “that kiss” might just be to replace it with a hundred more.

About that Kiss is the 5th full length book in Jill Shalvis’ Heartbreaker Bay Series and it’s still going strong. You can always count on Jill to bring the romance, the fun, the funny, the strong characters and the heartfelt moments in her books and About That Kiss is no exception.

Joe and Kylie shared an unexpected smokin’ hot kiss one night, but after that night, Kylie doesn’t hear from Joe. Until he steps into her place of employment, Reclaimed Woods, looking to buy a mirror for his sister’s birthday that Kylie has made. Having him there brings back all the feelings from that night. She wants to forget about that kiss and Joe himself. Too bad it’s easier said than done.

When something that means a lot to Kylie is stolen, she reluctantly goes to Joe for help. While they work together to try and find the thief from a list of suspects, the two grow closer. But Joe has painful things from his past that plague him and he’s trying not to get too close to Kylie. He doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t want her getting hurt because of him. But the more time they spend together, Kylie knows they’d be good together if Joe could just open himself up to more. She knows what she wants, and she wants Joe for keeps.

With great chemistry between the characters, a couple I was rooting for and a little bit of mystery and suspense thrown in, About that Kiss was a very enjoyable read!

I can’t wait for the next book in the Heartbreaker Bay series!
