Interview & Giveaway with Victoria Wolfe of The Night Beat by Gini Koch

Oct 10, 2012

Not to long ago, I came across a very new and interesting story by Gini Koch, titled The Night Beat.  Mrs. Koch delves into a paranormal world kept secret from mankind.  The Necropolis Enforcement Files is a behind the scenes account of all that we as humans do not see. The men and women protecting the human race are called Necropolis Enforcers.  After reading The Night Beat by Gini Koch, I became intrigued with Ms. Victoria Wolfe, an enforcer, that moonlights as a police officer in the human world.  Upon my search for information on Ms. Wolfe and her associates mentioned in The Night Beat, I came up short, time and time again.  Someone was going to a lot of trouble to keep Ms. Wolfe's information under lock and key.  After various attempts, I was able to find Ms. Wolfe and ask for an interview.  She was hesitant at first, but I persisted and promised to share this article with the select few humans that have knowledge of these unique paranormal beings.  In addition I promised to keep any details that she felt were classified out of the interview.  So, without any further ado, my exclusive interview with Victoria Wolfe.

Dana: Victoria, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Victoria: Sure, I’m a were-girl, a couple hundred years young. Undeads age differently from humans, so while we do age, it’s hard for any human to tell, because most of you die before you can spot a change in our aging process. On the plus side, some of you undie and get to join us, so that’s kind of a cool thing to look forward to.

Oh, and for you purists out there, no, technically, werewolves aren’t “dead”. There’s a reason we side with, and consider ourselves, undeads, though. Of course, to know that…well, you’ll have to read the book. ;-D

Dana: Now, can we get some info on the crew who helps you out on The Night Beat?
Victoria: Well, first off, there’s Amanda. She’s a vamp and my best friend. Maurice, also a vamp, is her brother. He’s great. There’s my hunky human partner, Jack, and Ralph, a rather lovesick and kind of radical werewolf. The Count runs things, with help from Clyde the Mummy and Monte the Lich who’s the head of Dirt Corps. We added in some new beings, too -- a zombie and a succubus. I could go on.

Basically, we’ll join in whoever’s willing to fight the good fight and kick icky butt alongside us.

Dana: What is your least favorite undead being?
Victoria: That’s simple -- the Prince, aka The Prince of Darkness. He’s evil personified, and needless to say, he’s my least favorite. Otherwise, every undead has their reason for being, and I don’t like any one kind more than the others. We’re all in this fight together.

Dana: How does it feel working with humans all the time?
Victoria: Oh, I like humans. I was one, after all. Humans are fun, especially the good looking ones.

Dana: What was one crazy situation you found yourself in on The Night Beat?
Victoria: Gosh, only one? There were a lot of crazy situations. Probably the craziest was the love triangle that caught me completely off guard, in more ways than one. Having to match wits with Lucifer was also kind of crazy, in a scary way.

Dana: Can you tell us what's coming in future books?
Victoria: Well, per the Creator, we’re going to be forced to dig into the Bag of Badness and figure out what all the weird stuff we were able to keep away from the Forces of Evil is and how we can destroy it safely, or use it to our advantage. The Creator sort of chuckles evilly when she’s talking about the next books, which makes my fur stand up. Evil chuckles from the Creator mean “wild times” for me and my pack. “Wild times” and “fun times” are not necessarily the same thing…

Thank you so much for allowing me this interview, Ms. Wolfe, it has been a pleasure.
