Review: Blood Rights by Kristen Painter

Nov 7, 2011

House of Comarré

Book 1

Born into a life of secrets and service, Chrysabelle's body bears the telltale marks of a
comarré -- a special race of humans bred to feed vampire nobility.
When her patron is murdered, she becomes the prime suspect, which sends her running into
the mortal world...and into the arms of Malkolm, an outcast vampire cursed
to kill every being from whom he drinks.

Now, Chrysabelle and Malkolm must work together to stop a plot to merge the
mortal and supernatural worlds. If they fail, a chaos unlike anything anyone has
ever seen will threaten to reign.

Fresh! New! Interesting!  Kristen Painter has created a world that has secrets just waiting to be unearthed. Malkolm turned out to be a complete surprise, I was expecting something completely different. Learning about  Chrysabelle's way of life was so entertaining, I can just imagine all the new things we will soon learn about her in upcoming books.  As soon as I saw the cover, I wanted to read Blood Rights.
I look forward to reading book 2: Flesh and Blood.

  3. I read this in June, right after BEA where, it was an ARC. I thought it could have been deeper. Sometimes writers dig holes and then instead of building stairs the dig sideways.
